Welcome to Great Commission Christian Church Japan or GC3 Japan, a Pentecostal community dedicated to worship, fellowship, and the transformative power of God’s love. Our beliefs are rooted in the foundational principles of the Christian faith, as outlined in the following declarations.
Rooted in the teachings of Jesus, we believe in the transformative power of making disciples. Our beliefs are firmly anchored in the Holy Scriptures, and we affirm the Trinity, the divinity of Christ, and the empowering work of the Holy Spirit. We are not a cult, Jehovah Witnesses, Mormons, or related to the Unification Church. We are a Bible-believing church committed to spreading the Gospel in Japan and beyond.
God
At the core of our faith is the conviction that there is one true and living God—eternally existing in three distinct Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, yet united in essence. We believe in the divine nature of God, the Creator of all things visible and invisible, who formed the universe out of nothing.
Jesus Christ
We proclaim Jesus Christ as the Second Person of the Trinity, the Savior of all humanity. Conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, Jesus is both fully God and fully Man. His sacrificial death for our sins, burial, bodily resurrection on the third day, and ascension to heaven exemplify His divine purpose. We eagerly anticipate His glorious return to judge all people and establish His Kingdom.
Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is God, the Third Person of the Trinity, plays a pivotal role in our faith. Convicting hearts, bringing repentance, and indwelling believers who confess Jesus as Lord, the Holy Spirit bestows spiritual gifts upon the Church. We affirm the manifestation of these gifts, such as healing, prophesy, and speaking in tongues, for the edification of the Body of Christ.
Salvation
Salvation, or being Born Again, is exclusively through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Repentance and belief in the Gospel lead to salvation, wherein individuals embrace a new life by practicing the teachings of Jesus Christ.
Holy Scriptures
We hold the Holy Scriptures—the Old and New Testaments—as inspired by God and authoritative witnesses to His revelation in Jesus Christ. The Bible shapes our faith, guides our lives, and defines the mission of our Church.
Water Baptism
As a visible expression of inner transformation, we emphasize the significance of water baptism. All who repent and believe in Jesus Christ are called to be baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit through full immersion. This act symbolizes the believer’s death to sin and resurrection to a new life in Christ.
